Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your use of Saltway Systems Bot (“the bot”) and the website discord.saltwaydigital.co.uk (together, “the service”), run by Saltway Digital (“we”, “us”). By adding the bot to a server, using its commands or verifying, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. The service

The bot gives Discord users a way to verify with Saltway Systems and claim Linked Roles in any server it has been added to. It also provides a small set of slash commands. The service is free. We may add, change or remove features.

2. Who can use it

You must follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, and meet Discord's minimum age in your country. If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these Terms for it.

3. Server owners and administrators

The bot can be added to many independent servers. If you add it to a server, you:

  • must have permission to add bots to that server;
  • are responsible for which roles you link to the bot and what those roles give access to;
  • should tell your members that you use the bot for verification, and where to find this page and our Privacy Policy;
  • understand that verification confirms only that a Discord account has completed our verification process. It does not confirm a person's real identity, age or trustworthiness.

Saltway Digital is not responsible for how individual servers are run, moderated or what they contain.

4. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • try to get around verification, for example with fake, shared or bought accounts;
  • disrupt, overload, attack or probe the service, or interfere with other users;
  • reverse engineer the service, or send forged requests to our endpoints;
  • use the service to harass anyone, send spam, or break the law.

5. Suspension and removal

We may remove a user's verification, or stop the bot working in a server, if these Terms are broken or to protect the service and its users. You can stop using the service at any time. To do so, remove the bot from your server, or remove it under User Settings → Authorized Apps and use /forget-me.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the service running, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. There may be interruptions, for example for maintenance or when Discord has an outage. We do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors.

7. Liability

As far as the law allows, Saltway Digital will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of the service. Because the service is free, our total liability to you is limited to £50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

8. Discord

Saltway Systems Bot is an independent application. It is not made, endorsed or supported by Discord Inc. Your use of Discord is governed by Discord's own terms.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms. If we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. If you continue to use the service after a change, you accept the updated Terms.

11. Law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring a claim in your local courts.
